Functional principle: Trotec protective wall WITH circumferential aerosol protective edge
The circumferential edge of the Trotec protective wall causes the aerosol particles ejected towards the acrylic glass plate when speaking, coughing or sneezing to be deflected at the protective wall and to flow radially outwards to the edge, where they are deflected again. The deflection at the edge creates a vortex that traps the aerosol particles in this area. Thermal uplift is also reliably stopped by the protective edge. Less protection without a surrounding aerosol protective edge
Transparent protective screens are not new. Even before the pandemic, these separating discs were in use in food sales. However, only as so-called "cough protection" and not as effective protection against aerosols.

For schools and classrooms: wearing masks in the workplace is not necessary
Despite heated debates, there is not yet a nationwide obligation to wear masks for pupils at primary and secondary schools. With the Trotec safety barriers this obligation does not have to exist in the future either!
The problem: Mouth-nose covers and surgical masks never lie completely against the face. Therefore, aerosol particles flow out of the sides of the mask when breathing, speaking, coughing or sneezing. If students sit next to each other in class and look straight ahead at the teacher, the aerosol particles can be emitted directly to the left and right of the person sitting next to them. Wearing the masks therefore does not provide sufficient protection against aerosol particles escaping from the sides.
The solution: For this reason, Prof. Dr. Kähler, head of the Institute for Fluid Mechanics and Aerodynamics at the University of the German Federal Armed Forces in Munich, scientifically tested a hygiene concept for schools and offices developed by Trotec, which makes the wearing of masks at the seat or workplace unnecessary. Instead, the hygiene concept developed relies on a combination of mobile air purifiers and acrylic glass panel protective walls with a surrounding protective edge. If this hygiene concept is implemented correctly, students only need to wear a protective FFP2 or FFP3 mask when leaving the seat, but not at the seat. (However, the measures prescribed in the local hygiene concept apply with priority).

The circumferential aerosol protection edge of the panel made of high quality RÖHM acrylic glass (registered as "Community Design EU-Design No. 008182745") limits the air flow and thus ensures that the aerosol clouds emitted by the persons do not flow unhindered into the room to neighboring rows of seats or drift over to the neighbor around the protective panel.
The protective effect of the innovative aerosol protective edge has been scientifically tested and confirmed.
